Usedom Palace
Usedom is ideal for bicycle trips, also in combination with the ferry boat. A special trip is the route to Peenemuende with a following trip with the logistic ship „sea-eagle“ to the Baltic island Greifswalder Oie.
There the visitors expect, after two hours navigation, an exciting afternoon between nature purely and the inheritances of German history: Starting from 1937 the Nazis use the island as launching platform for the V2-missiles. During the GDR time the island as NVA base.
The remnants of the military plants shape still the picture of the island. After the NVA base was given up, the buildings of the island were left to vandalism. 1993 opened the nature protection association “Jordsand” its station and prepared the old island yard again as migratory bird station.
