The modern design and interior of the 23 rooms combined with a warm, homely colour scheme in the style of German studios stand in contrast to the classical style of the castle. In the restaurant the cook cooks an innovative cuisine, inspired by Mediterranean and regional Mecklenburger influences.
Already by 1539 Luetgenhof was registered as a fiefdom, but it was not until 1839 that the Lords of Paepcke began to build the manor house. In 1890, during the course of the renovation, it was converted to a classical castle and the north wing annex and conservatory were built. In 1945 the Paepcke family were expropriated. The castle had many different uses in the years to follow, up until the complete restoration began in 1992.
In order to complete the symmetry of the annex, the extension of the south wing was built with castle terrace, which today is bursting with Medi - terranean panache under ancient chestnut trees with a Baltic Sea breeze.
Luetgenhof Castle opened its doors as a hotel in April 1999 and today also offers a spa as well as holiday apartments hidden in the garden.
