The glass restaurant with creative state-of-the-art kitchen in a water pavilion in the midst of the moat, the terrace over the castle moat, the registry office as well as the individual, stylishly luxurious furnished room and parlour are all very unique.

Anholt Moated Castle is surrounded by several baroque gardens and lies amidst an enormous moat, nestled in 42 hectares of parkland. The Princes of Salm have owned Anholt since 1645.

In the Second World War the site was almost completely destroyed, to the extent that it was no longer inhabitable. As part of its reconstruction, the moated castle was preserved to become a museum.

Between 1990 and 2000 Prince Carl Philipp of Salm-Salm carried out reconstruction and restoration measures on the historical premises, as well as on numerous important pieces of art for the development and furnishing of the museum.
