Burghotel Schnellenberg

Comfortable, stylishly furnished rooms welcome the guests to Schnellenberg Castle.

The elegant restaurant in the Gobelin Hall, the rustic Knights Hall with fireplace, as well as the bar in the coat of arms cellar with the terrace in the inner courtyard and view over Attendorn, all offer a versatile cuisine and a wellassorted wine cellar. The beautiful Renaissance Chapel from the 16th century with the registry office enable weddings, baptisms and festivities of every kind to take place here.

The Schnellenberg Castle, mentioned in records for the first time in 1222, reigns over the green hills of the Sauerland region. The past is still to be seen represented today by the high rising watch towers, the powerful stone archways, the heavy iron-fitted doors and the treasure chamber with medieval objects of interest.

In 1594 the castle with its whole estate became the property of Caspar of Fuerstenberg and has since then been owned by the family. Here the visitor can find hospitality with centuries old of tradition and is greeted at the upper gateway by the following dictum chiselled in grey sandstone: “Foris non maneat peregrinus. Ostium meum pateat viatori! Stranger do not stay outside. My door is open to the traveller!”
